Famed for its scenery, this district of Scotland extends from Fasnacloich in the East, Loch Creran in the South, Loch Linnhe with Castle Stalker in the West, and the hills of Achnacone in the North. It includes Port Appin, Tynribbie, Portnacroish, and Fasnacloich.

This was the ancient land of the Stewarts of Appin who built Castle Stalker ( once a hunting lodge for King James IV ) around 1500 AD on an island in Loch Laich.

The region is occupied by small farmers rather than crofters, their lands surrounding the sea-lochs which have a broken shore with many bays and islands.
